Fulton County Jail (FCJ), commanded by the Chief Jailer, has two divisions: Administration and Operations. The FCJ is also responsible for providing comprehensive support services which consist of food services, medical services, and facility maintenance.
The Jail Division has made continuous improvements in inmate management, building security, and delivery of medical and food services. Jail Commanders have taken time to listen to staff directly and understand the challenges faced daily. Several adjustments have been made to the training program, performance expectations, and philosophy at the jail.
The quality of services delivered and professionalism of the staff at the Fulton County Jail is an inspiration for the Sheriff’s Office. The degree of scrutiny and quantity of change endured by staff over the past year is phenomenal.
Despite challenges, the staff members have risen to every occasion to self-evaluate, adapt external professional recommendations, and improve.
JAIL INFORMATION
Fulton County Jail Dress Code
The following items listed below are NOT allowed:
- See through garments or clothing that shows body parts.
- Tight fitting clothing such as spandex, leggings, yoga pants, etc.
- Clothing that have holes or rips whether man-made or designer
- Shorts that are above the knee
- Mini skirts, short dresses, or sagging pants
- Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, or visible white under garment t-shirts
- Head coverings such as scarves, bandannas, hats, ball caps, etc.
- Sleepwear such as pajama pants,nightgowns, house shoes, etc.
- Sunglasses, shades
- No handbags or purses.
- Clothing or garments with illegal, offensive, or obscene graphics
- Shoes that are determined to be slip hazardous such as flip flops, shoes without a back strap, heels and toes out, etc.
- Outerwear such as jackets, sweaters, coats, hoodies, etc. (These items must be removed before entering the Fulton County Jail)
- Under garments are required, but should not be seen while conducting business at the Fulton County Jail.
Fulton County Jail does not allow ANY electronics devices inside of the jail.
- Mobile phones
- Computerized tablets (iPad and similar devices)
- Laptops
- Digital music players (iPod, MP3, etc.)
- Bluetooth devices
- E- Reader (Nook Tablets, Kindle, and similar devices)
- Audio recording devices
- Cameras

JAIL INMATE INFORMATION
The Commissary offers snack foods, writing paper, stamps, envelopes, socks, underwear, T-shirts, bras, toiletries, and playing cards. Each Housing Unit may purchase Commissary once a week.
The Medical Unit provides 24 hour health care for inmates. Emergency dental care is available. Prescription medicines are provided, as required. Inmates will be charged a fee for requested medical services. There is a co-pay for prescription medication.
Religious Services are offered by various denominations on a regular schedule. There is a Chaplain available for counseling, on request.
Educational Programs for inmates include high school diploma courses, sewing, culinary arts, diesel mechanics, horticulture, meat processing, auto body, and welding. There is counseling for substance abuse, including AA and NA meetings.
Library Service is provided to each Housing Unit with a wide variety of books.
Newspapers are available to inmates and newspaper and magazine subscriptions may be purchased for inmates.
Exercise Yard is available in each Housing Unit.
Television is only available for special programs such as educational or religious themes.
Table top games are available to inmates during their free time.
Starting May 15, 2024 – Your personal mail is going digital! All personal mail from your family and friends such as letters, pictures, and drawings will be digitally delivered to you via the tablet’s “Facility Messages” app under the free profile. Legal mail and checks, money orders and cashier’s checks should still be sent to the facility. See locations below:

Your PIN is your ID number plus your commissary PIN. Dial all digits together before pressing the pound (#) sign.

Your friends and family members can call and leave you Voice Mail messages at any time for $0.25. They will need a Prepaid Account with available funds and their PIN. Have them call 1-404-678-6120 and follow the automated instructions. They will need to know your Inmate ID Number.
To Retrieve a Voicemail
- Press ‘1’ for English or ‘2’ for Spanish
- Enter your PIN followed by the ‘#’ sign
- Press ‘41’ to access the Inmate Voice Mail Messaging System and follow the prompts
- Make payable to the inmate
- Include the inmate’s Cell Location and SO Number

Inmate property can be released to family or friends after an inmate completes a property release form specifying the intended recipient. Property may only be released when the property form has been signed by the inmate. A government issued photo ID is required to receive the property. The Property release request usually takes 48 hours to process.
JAIL ARRESTEE INFORMATION
Individuals who have been placed under arrest are first transported to the Main Jail, which is located at 901 Rice Street NW, Atlanta Georgia 30318. Upon arrival, they must complete the following steps:
- Property Intake
- Medical Screening
- Fingerprinting
- Photographing
- Warrants Check
While the staff at the Main Jail is dedicated to ensuring the prompt processing and release of eligible arrestees, the amount of time required to complete this process may be affected by the volume of arrestees being processed simultaneously and/or the availability of information from state and national databases.

Cash Bond payments using VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER/NOVUS can be processed online on https://www.cashbondonline.com/home.html.
Cash, cashier’s checks, and postal money orders are the only accepted methods of payment for bail at the Fulton County Jail. Cash bonds are processed 24-hours-a-day. When posting bail, cashier’s checks must be made payable to the “Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in care of arrestee’s name and booking number
Refunds for cash bonds are ONLY processed at the Fulton County Courthouse 185 Central Ave. Atlanta, Ga. 30318 on the 9th floor.
The following documents are required:

- Receipt
- Only the person who paid the bond along with their Identification will be permitted to retrieve a refund
