The FIFA World Cup is coming to Atlanta, bringing visitors from around the globe for one of the world’s largest sporting events. Atlanta will host eight matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium between June 11 and July 15, 2026, with hundreds of thousands of visitors expected to travel through downtown Atlanta during the tournament.
As the primary public safety agency responsible for securing Fulton County facilities, courts, and detention operations, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with local, state, federal, and international partners to help ensure a safe and successful event.

Yes. No Fulton County facilities are expected to close due to the World Cup, and services to residents will continue throughout the tournament.
Yes. Residents and visitors may notice an increased security presence at Fulton County facilities, downtown Atlanta, and other areas associated with World Cup activities. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and its public safety partners will be working together to help maintain a safe environment for employees, residents, and visitors.
Traffic around downtown Atlanta, including the Government Center and Justice Center Complex, may be heavier than usual before and after matches. Parking availability may also be limited, and daily parking rates could be higher than normal during major event days.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to allow additional travel time and consider using MARTA or other transit options when traveling downtown.
- From June 8 through July 17, Magistrate Court Landlord/Tenant, Garnishment, and Small Claims hearings will be held at the South Fulton Service Center on Stonewall Tell Road.
- Small Claims hearings will also be conducted at the North Fulton Service Center on Roswell Road.
- Probate Court services at the downtown location will be closed on match days. Probate Court services will remain available at the North and South Service Center offices.
- Courts will not conduct jury selection on match days.
- Any changes affecting specific cases, hearings, or court programs will be communicated directly to impacted parties.
Yes. Standard courthouse security screening procedures will remain in place. Visitors should plan additional time for screening and entry into courthouse facilities, particularly on match days and during periods of increased downtown activity.
